Diving the Bay Island of Guanaja, Honduras (Part 2 - Traveling Photographer)

28. March 2016
One of the hardest decisions I had to make leading up to our trip was whether to check (most of) my camera gear, or try to find some way to have it as a carry-on. I say hard, because I just dropped thousands of dollars on equipment I’ve only ever “tested” around here and I was now considering putting it an expensive box and hoping it arrived with me at my destination. As I previously wrote, you know I chose to check, and it was practicality that won out in the end. There was just too much equipment and it is too large to try to find some way to have it all with me. It is all something that insurance can replace and while I’d be bummed if it didn’t get to my destination, I would still have some options available to me (like the GoPro in my carry-on). [More]

I thought that they deliver them to me as a QR code I can scan in the first place, surely I can generate my own to speed up the process. [More]

Getting your brand’s Twitter timeline in your mobile app

3. March 2015
I’m working on a demo app to show some simple functionality that can be done with Xamarin Forms. I’m using the opportunity to also make a business card app for myself (and ultimately for Alien Arc). The app has my picture, name, short bio, and other relevant information. This also seemed like a good place to tie in some of my various social network feeds. I quickly added a page that pulls my blog RSS feed and lists my recent posts. That went really quick and next on my list was to load my twitte... [More]

Lessons Learned from My First Speaking Experience

20. November 2014
First off, speaking is a rush. It is hard to describe the feeling just after completing a talk. I had to move around, talk to people, see what was going on; it really energized me. I am definitely going to continue to pursue future speaking opportunities as they present themselves, and I’ll keep you posted when they get accepted. [More]
